Food of the Week: Swiss Chard

Every week I’ll suggest a new, healthy food. Your job is to try it at least once during the week.

I may suggest a food you’ve never heard of before or one you haven’t eaten in a while. I may even suggest a food you think you don’t like. Make a point to try it anyway. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll like it this time.

Food of the Week November 18, 2014: Swiss Chard

A cousin to beet greens and spinach, Swiss chard has a wonderfully sweet, salty, mineral rich flavor. And it’s the perfect “base” to add protein to. Eat it raw like salad greens and top with grilled chicken, hard boiled egg whites, beans, shrimp or canned tuna or salmon. Or sauté it in a tiny bit of olive oil and then serve a piece of poached or grilled chicken or fish on top. Try some Swiss chard this week!
